Saya

Saya (小夜 Saya) hunts chiropterans using a katana. It is implied that she is the last remaining vampire and called "the only remaining original." Saya has no weakness to sunlight, although it is unknown if she has any of the other vulnerabilities often attributed to vampires. She does, however, become distressed when she encounters religious paraphernalia and angry when people mention God in her presence. Saya displays superhuman senses and strength, as well as cunning, resourcefulness, and skill. The manga series suggests she was a human-vampire hybrid. Her age is unknown, but a picture of her with nine other people is shown in the film with the date 1892 and the word "vampire" attached to it. Though she holds most humans in contempt, she seems to have some sort of respect for David. Voiced by Youki Kudo. - Wikipedia

Thoughts? Feedback?

Here's where we discuss how to make Alleycon 2014 even better with the help of this year's participants. Please leave a comment below telling us what you enjoyed, what you think needed improvement, and what you absolutely hated.  Bear in mind this was a first time thing for everyone involved.

To keep things anonymous, we ask you do not reply to this blog post under your real name.  To do this, you cannot be logged into any Google-affiliated account at the time (Youtube, Gmail, etc).

Introduction

Alleycon was a convention planned by some members of the community in Gwangju, South Korea.  It initially started as just a small group of people hoping to get together and play some board games at a local restaurant.  However, as more people jumped in, the organizers decided to take it to the next level and establish an official meet.

There were many festivities people became involved in: Dungeons & Dragons sessions, a Magic: the Gathering draft, a costume contest, a geek-themed trivia, even Q&A periods with renowned authors Myke Cole and Jack Campbell.

The venue was The First Alleyway, a foreigner-run restaurant in the heart of downtown Gwangju.  The owners were generous enough to donate the space for the day, closing their doors to business to give the 60-odd conventions participants a little privacy.  They took the festivities to heart, going above and beyond their call of duty to mix cocktails and cook food suitable to the geek crowd.

It was an amazing event and we'll be sure to keep the tradition going in 2014.
