Introduction

Alleycon was a convention planned by some members of the community in Gwangju, South Korea.  It initially started as just a small group of people hoping to get together and play some board games at a local restaurant.  However, as more people jumped in, the organizers decided to take it to the next level and establish an official meet.

There were many festivities people became involved in: Dungeons & Dragons sessions, a Magic: the Gathering draft, a costume contest, a geek-themed trivia, even Q&A periods with renowned authors Myke Cole and Jack Campbell.

The venue was The First Alleyway, a foreigner-run restaurant in the heart of downtown Gwangju.  The owners were generous enough to donate the space for the day, closing their doors to business to give the 60-odd conventions participants a little privacy.  They took the festivities to heart, going above and beyond their call of duty to mix cocktails and cook food suitable to the geek crowd.

It was an amazing event and we'll be sure to keep the tradition going in 2014.
